You Gonna Know My Name…
With over 50 artists spread over three stages at this weekend’s Hard Rock Calling, incredible music and special moments (perhaps you heard about Bruce and Paul) were happening everywhere in Hyde Park, London. However, all who witnessed Gary Clark Jr’s blistering set on the side stage were still talking about it when the festival came to a close on Sunday night. The Texan effortlessly blends early Mississippi blues with the psychedelic pyrotechnics that Jimi Hendrix pioneered. At one point, he even threw in some modern metal touches that Tom Morello, who had just played the Main Stage, would appreciate. Finishing with the wicked little “Bright Lights”, Clark sang “you gonna know my name” over and over as the crowd could only nod their heads in agreement.    - Jason Lent (Hard Rock Las Vegas)
